error: fatal exception oe at vxd vcache

Hi,
My computer is a Dell and I have Windows98SE on it but I don't know what kind of motherboard it has. I keep getting a blue screen that says a fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:C004E759 in VXD Vcache(01)+000001BD. I went to Microsoft and read that error is caused by bad memory so I got new memory for it but the error kept happening. Then I read somewhere about formatting and reinstalling windows so I did that and it didn't help either. I did a virus scan and it said it was okay. It isn't under warranty anymore, it is my brother's old computer that he gave me when he went to college and I can't afford to take it to the shop. Please help!
Thank you.

Run "msconfig" and in the " Start up " box check what is starting and uncheck everything except System tray, Load power profile and Scan registry. Then restart when asked. That will isolate any other programs that may be producing that error. Try that and report back. Good Luck
