XP system Restricted

I have a system at a local University that is on a network running XP. Last night I discovered that someone had logged in and when into the gpedit file and locked the system up tight. I am not able to use ANY program what so ever! Not even the IE6. I can see the Manage option from the My Computer icon but it gives me the same message that I get every where else (as I try to do anything on the system) "the action has been cancelled because the system administratot has disabled that option" or something close to that. And YES, I can log into the network and just locally and get the same problems. There are only the users on the system...Admin-network, Admin-local and User10 (generic). Does anyone know how to get past the locked up system?

If you can get to start --> run type gpedit.msc

You'll have to login as a local administrator to do it though.

GPEDIT is also accessible by other machines if they can logon as the local admin.. or by a domain admin if you're on a domain.

I have tried the gpedit.msc on the local system and get the same message about not being allowed to do that and to contact the system admin. I am the Admin dang it....haha

How do I do it through another system on the same domain? That much I don't know. I have asked smome of my other buddies that are also Admin's but we are not sure how to do it. Do you know how to get to it through another computer? If so, let me know.

Take out the harddrive and plug it into another computer as "slave" (second) drive. Make sure that the jumper setting on the back of the screwed up drive is NOT "master" otherwise the other computer will boot off the screwed up drive. Once the other system boots off it's own disk you will get access to to the screwed up drive. Now you can fix the problem!

I was able to get into the system through another on the same network and fixed the problem. Someone had hacked into the one I had trouble with and played with a few settings. Thanx for the sugestion though.
