Norton Anti-Virus 2000 - Virus Definitions won't update?
I've got Norton Anti-Virus 2000 installed on this machine. When I open it up, it tells me that my virus defintions are more than 1 year old, and that they should be updated by doing a "LiveUpdate".
So, I click on "LiveUpdate", go through all the steps, it does it's thing with Symantec's servers, and it tells me that everything was updated successfully. HOWEVER...
It still says my definitions are as old as they were before, and that they should be updated.
What should I do??

You have to run it over and over until it says there are no updates.... kinda stupid but it's the way it works....

My guess is that they want you to buy the 2002 version, That is what I had to do!
Been there done that!
It kept telling me that it could not update some of the dat files!
So it cost me $20:00 with the rebate!
Works fine now.

Virus definitions date does not change after running LiveUpdate
I haven't had this trouble myself with my Norton SystemWorks 2000, but there have been several (free) updates to Liveupdate that might need to be installed (see link above)
Hope all goes well...

Go to downloads.com and click on "Newest" and find the updates there in form of an exe file. That should do it.

If you have an unregistered NAV, you can update it using LU for one year. After that, you download them manually, you register, or you reinstall.

It turned out there was a problem with the account renewal information Symantec had given me, so it told one system that my account was updated, but the other that I wasn't... Or something.

All is well, though.
