Question Modem light keeps blinking on?

I have a Lucent 56k win-modem & I’ve been noticing lately the little modem in the system
tray keeps coming on every 5 to 10 seconds. I have already run a virus checker & Spy-bot to
check for spy-ware, but it keeps doing it. This happens on every site I go to even Google,
I don’t remember it doing this before. Other then that little annoyance the modem works great.
Anyone know if this is normal & I may have just never noticed it?

This is almost certianly normal. Especailly since you have done all the checks.

My Cable modem is connected to a router 24/7 and happily chats away to each other even when the computer is not switched on!

It's probably just the "hearbeat" that keeps the connection alive. ISP's will usually kill the connection if they don't get a return pulse from the modem from time to time.

do u mean the little double computer screen icon in the systray? if so, then all that means is that data is being transferred. like peter said, perfectly normal
