Change the fsb to the correct rating.
Or, if the mhz rating is correct, it just reads the model wrong, update your bios.

The fsb can be changed in bios. If you have award bios, you can enter it by pressing 'del' during post.
The fsb should be either 133mhz or 166mhz.
Bios updating should be easy nowadays, you probably can find a software at the mobo manuf site which enables you to update your bios within windows.

I checked the ecs website, but they don't seem to have such an utility.
You only need the most recent bios. But it seems you have to update the bios in conventional way, creating a dos boot diskette and then flashing it from there.
However, I highly suggest you check the fsb rating before you update the bios.

The K7S5A Pro does not need a BIOS update to recognize XP2400+, only the v1.x and maybe the 2.0 did.
Change the FSB in BIOS from 100Mhz to 133Mhz. The multiplier for that CPU is locked at 15x so there's no other way you are going to get to the stock 2Ghz speed. |
