Add/Remove Programs (Error)

I've encounter the following error when starting Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel:

This seems to be a recent issue (don't recall it ever happening before), and I've been through the MS Knowledge base "fix", registering DLLs, and double checking the registry and nothing seems to help.

I am currently running Windows 2000 SP2 (don't really want to upgrade to a newer service pack). IE 5.5 SP2 has been installed since the system was built and the only recent app I've installed was GhostScript for viewing PostScript files.

Note that although this error occurs, after clicking OK on the error dialog I can then click on "Change or Remove Programs" on the Add/Remove window and work with it as normal. However it seems to bog down the system while Add/Remove is open.

Strange...

I also noticed IE was very slow to scroll certain pages and there was a huge delay typing text into and forms. I was able to solve this problem by running HiJackThis, and removing a User StyleSheet "C:\WINNT\Web\oslogo.bmp" which as a file didn't even exist at that given location. That fixed the problem with IE, but at the same time fixed the Add/Remove Programs error I was getting.

Talk about obscure... I would have never figured that out focusing soley on Add/Remove Programs issues I've seen on the web.
