| Now how did this happen?.....
How do you think I can fix this? I have a SB Live 5.1 SC and reinstalled the drivers for it. This however appears to not be the problem. This happens when I try to put my volume control in the task bar, also my mic doesnt work....

Make sure it's still installed in 'Add/Remove Windows Components' if you're using XP. | |

I do have XP, so I went into add/remove and then windows components but I do not see those settings. Nor do I see the multimedia window that you took the pic of | |

Great, well that worked I just had to reinstall the software I deleated. Next problem.. Mic still doesnt work. I made shure I had it plugged into the right spots on the SC but I am not getting ANY sound from the mic. | |

Err.... not. All that it did was install accesories and games.. no multimedia. Although it did give me my volume control bar? | |

Do you have it "Muted" ?
If you wanna test the Mic itself, just plug it into one of your speaker jacks and see if you can hear anything from it. If not, it's probably busted. | |

You say the mic should put out sound if it is plugged into one of the speaker jacks? If this is the case it isnt working. Which sux because I havent used this mike a dozen times.

SB Live has to be completely uninstalled before you re-install it.
Creative is great for their hardware, but their software isn't always reliable.
Try this, then make sure you look at any controling software you have instaled for the SB Live: Like EAX or Audio HQ (If they come with it)
Re-boot and then goto the control panel. CHeck your hardare and make sure there aren't any conflicts. If clean, you can then check to see if in your "Sounds/Multimedia Properties" if your hardware is selected. (check to see if you've checked the box for "place the volume control in the taskbar" box...
If so, then all should be a go on the mic and the for the volume control to be in taskbar.
(pink jacks go into the pink, while green go into the green for mic and speaker)
