Gainward GeForce 3 Ti200 Problems...

Hi,

I think I'm having problems with my video card but i'm not sure. What i did was reformat the computer. Then i installed all of the drivers except of the video card driver. The computer worked fine. I also installed the updated motherboard driver. Then when i installed my video card driver, i started to recieve problems with my computer. The mouse cursor would freeze and when i restarted, the computer complains from recovering from a device failure and wants to restart. After restarting, the computer would either complain about device failure and turn to 4bit mode at 800x600 or the mouse would freeze again. Anyone know where the problem is coming from. I think it is my video card, but I'm not sure.

I have had the same problem with an ATI card I used to have. It was defective, and would freeze the screen, and then complain of the device error.

You might want to try lowering the Hardware Acceleration, and see if the problem vanishes. You can do that here:

Control Panel -> Display Properties -> Settings (tab) -> Advanced (button) -> Troubleshoot (tab)
- Use the slider to drop the Accelration down 1 or 2 notches
(Instructions based on WinXP, but should be similar in other versions)
