Hi all,
Just wondered if you could help me with this problem, i downloaded grokster the other day but it came with loads of other software so i deleted it, but now everytime i start my computer i get the following message.
autostarter - run-time error '424' object required
And my dial-up network box keeps opening on it's own, very annoying.
i looked in add/remove progs and grokster is still there but cant delete it as it says it cannot find it on my computer.
Any help appreciated. |

did u delete it by selecting the folder and pressing delete or going to add/remove programs?
if you selected the folder and pressed delete, try re-installing, reboot then uninstall using add/remove programs, or the uninstall wizard (should be in the programs root directory, eg c:\program files\grokster )
what version of windows are u using?
if it is XP, go to start -> run -> and type "msconfig" without the quotation marks
then go to the startup tab, and deselect grokster.exe (or whatever associated program it is, for example autostarter.exe etc, look at the command to figure out what it is doing)
this may or may not work with other windows, i am not sure.
good luck!

Thanks for the reply,
I tried to selete it thru add / remove programs but said it couldn't find it, so i had to delete it manually, i just downloaded it again to uninstall it, but now it's worse, i downloaded it tried to delete it but still couldn't anyway there's a hidden program that comes with it, it's called 'shop at home' i try and delete this thru add / remove but it keeps restarting my computer.
I'm using win 98 i tried the alt ctrl del but there's no autostart or any other software in there.
Any other ideas?? |

Try to download and run Ad-aware or Spybot. These programs will allow you to safely remove spyware.

sounds like spyware--follow xeroid's advice and download both as you need both to cover all the spyware--had one of these things and finally ended up formatting the hard drive and reinstalling everything wish i could sue the company that put out the spyware

As a last resort do a reg. search for the offending entries and delete them, start with grokster and then shop at home and what ever else pops up as an error, you may have to hit the
"next search" key many times to get them all.
