still have a boot up problem ?

still have a boot up problem ?

wont boot up it go`s to black screen and it reads "insert bootable media in the appropriate drive_ the underscore is blinking ? has anyone ever seen this ?

hp 7020 pavilion windows 95 the recovery disk dont work. ive booted from floppy =same thing . ive booted from cdrom = no help.

Have you tired the HDD manufacturer's diagnostic disk to see if your HDD is dead? I'm assuming that since your running 95 the HDD is way old.

Check in you BIOS that the booting sequence is correct.
If it is, make sure that you boot from the floppy first, and then try a bootable floppy disk... then try to diag it that way...

Bill: i got the recovery disk and when i put it in it says continue so i click ok -enter. it shows all files have been loaded sucsesfuly. please remove the disk and reboot the system. on reboot i get this same thing. to insert bootable media in the appropriate drive. so im still stuck . thanks for your help. maybe we can try something else dont know.

chaffers : ive try`d that and im back to step one...but thank you for your help....hmmm the harddrive was put in last year hp put it in when they lived in nashville. cant even upgrade to 98? say`s no patitions found ? will that help ? when i try to create one it says partition is a fixed disk ? so im stumped...lol...

It sounds like it is not reading the hard drive correctly. I have had this problem before. Go into your computer and make sure the IDE cable is right side up, and that the master slave settings are properly set. Also, make sure you check your boot sequence in BIOS. Very important w/older PCs!

George VII : ok all in order and the hp recovery disk starts and says starting windows 95 please wait then after that it say welcome the the HP Recovery choose Y N to setup. i choose Y enter and it goes to G: and thats that....cant type no other letter in only G: so i type in like it said system recover and nothing. so i rebooter the computer and i got HP logo then F1 to setup or ESC to exit. i F1 setup defaults and it boots up HP logo black screen please insert bootable media in the appropriate drive _ cant type a command or nothing keeps repating.
