| Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! when using Internet Explorer
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I am running Windows XP Home Edition with all the latest updates from Windows Update and the most recent .NET framework update (Service Pack 2). Recently I installed a trial version of Microsoft Visual Studio.net Professional version 2002 (after I updated the .NET framework with Service Pack 2). Ever since installing this I encounter the above error when I try to open Internet Explorer 6.0 and get a similiar message when I use Explore to explore My Computer. I get the error only when I'm on a limited account. When I change the account type to Administrator I no longer get the error.
I've searched the Microsoft Knowledge Base to no avail and I've tried uninstalling the application but that didn't work either. I've also re-installed the application but struck out that way too.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this so that we can once again use limited accounts and browse and Explore happily from within them? |

I am running Windows 98 and I have the same problem with one additional line --- abnormal program termination. I just wonder if these problems are related.
I have reinstalled my Windows 98 to no avail. I am about ready to swear off of computers. Can anyone give me a suggestion on solving this problem???
I have tried Microsoft to no avail so I am now at the mercy of this forum.
Thank you very much. |

I had this same message coming up. I could search the web but could not log on to any secure sites. This message would pop up and I would click ok and it would shut down internet explorer. I didnt have an anti virus program on my computer. I downloaded AVG antivirus and this scanned my computer and fixed 4 infected files and now the problem is solved. I think the virus is called Downloader.delf |

| MS Internet Explorer Error: Microsoft Visual C++
I run Windows 98 and was having a great deal of trouble with Internet Explorer Version 6. Any time a pop-up window would come up, or if you right clicked on a link and selected "open in new window", I would get the "C++ Runtime Error" and it would close the new window, perhaps the old one, and maybe others open at the time. It was driving me crazy.
I searched many websites for potential solutions can came across this which seems to work:
I seem to have fixed this problem by downloading on my PC the "Ad-Aware" software from Lavasoft. It is free and can be found at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/default.shtml.en
This software can clean your PC of parasitic software that opens the pop-up windows and cause problems. My error quite occurring after running Ad-Aware a few times and getting my machine clean. Now, I update Ad-Aware periodically and run it nearly daily, and the error has not reoccurred. |

I was having the same problem after I downloaded a newer version of internet expoler. I went back to the older version and it seems to have fixed the problem. I went to start, setting, add/remove programes and found Microsoft Internet 6 and.....
highlighted it and then clicked on remove. I was then given three choices. I think it was the third one I checked and then I was asked if i wanted to go back to the older version of internet explorer and i said yes.
so far it seems to have worked..... |

| Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error
Regarding this message posted by Perplexed:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! when using Internet Explorer
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
I just spent two days trying to figure out how to stop IE from crashing every time I typed in or tried to access an invalid URL. To my amazement, the fix was downloading Lavasoft and running that utility. I hesitated at first because I was already running Spybot, but saw another post from pentxhou referencing this.
Try it, it works |
