    "Delayed Write Failed"

    "Windows - Delayed Write Failed"

"Windows was unable to save all the data for the file <filename>. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save the file elsewhere."

I am running Win2k (Tyan mobo; k62-450 cpu), and I keep getting this message, primarily at system startup, but at other random times, too. Is the problem likely to be a hardware or a software issue? Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this? Thanks.

Usually that is a Hardware issue. Sometimes you can work around that by going into the device manager and then into the HD's properties or whatever drive is giving you the error and UNcheck the box where it say "Write Cache Enabled"

You might try scandisk, I don't knowe that it will help, but it won't hurt, could have a bad sector. Never heard of it myself just an idea

I have seen this. Boot up on a floppy and run through scan disk from dos. Or use the hard mfg's disk and run a though disk fitness test. You could have a controller going out on the HDD. You didn't say what brand or age of drive.
I bet you have some bad sectors.

    Mntsnow, brainchild and Philip1952:

Thanks for your replies. I appreciate the help. I will try your suggestions tomorrow between (or during) the football games.
