    Is my monitor going bad?

My wife computer has a 15" Acer monitor that is who knows how old. All the sudden it now has a green hue to everything. Is it on its way to the landfill? I've played with the settings, but still no help. Any suggestions? Or should I just head to Office Depot for that $109 after MIR KDS monitor?
    Thanks

I hooked my other computer up to it and the same thing. Must be a bad monitor.

Doublecheck monitors cable where it connects to the video card. Make sure it's good and tight. That's what caused the problem on my sons computer. If that doesn't work hook the monitor to your computer and see if it still looks green. If it still doesn't work hooked to your computer, sounds like the red gun may have gone out. It would then be time to start shopping.

EDIT: I assume you have already doublechecked device manager for any problems with your video and looked in Display Property Settings to make sure the correct drivers for video card and correct monitor are still in use.

    Thanks Xeroid.
It may be time to see if Doc came help out on the $$$$ side.
Wife could care less if I bought a 13". But it seems the 17" are fairly reasonable right now.
    Thanks again.

Check the pins on the SVGA cable ...make sure one of the pins aren't bent or broken....

I had a similar problem once, everytime I switched on my monitor I would see green zig-zag lines moving about the screen in a chaotic manner. It turned out to be a faulty extension cord for the monitor (from monitor to graphics card).

A shot in the dark, check the connector and see if any of the pins are bent over. I had the same thing happen to me and one of the pins was bent down into th bottom of the connector, Neddle nose, and sweat, and now it works great
The impossible takes more time, and costs more money.

Well......a bent pin huh. By golly I wanted that 17" anyway. It pains me to admit it, but I should have checked more carefully the first time. Two minutes with the needle nose and I was back in business. Thanks one and all who replyed.

...Uh, 17 flat panels are much more energy saving and produce a lot less heat! Yeah...that's it! <nudge> <nudge>
