| Can't fix my PC- won't boot.
Well, basically what I did was use Partition Magic, and I think I may have accidently applied the NFTS to the boot partition, which is bad because I'm using Win98 SE.
So, basically, upon trying to boot from CD, when I hit "wipe data and format," it gives me an error and says I can't do this; when I enable the HDD, it tries to boot but can't due to it being NFTS. Help? |

I don't know if this will work but it's worth a shot. Boot to a Win98 emergency boot disk and fdisk your mbr. fdisk /mbr

Just use Partition Magic and convert it back to FAT32, it should let you do that.
If it's booting from the HDD before the CD, just go into the BIOS and change the boot order so that it boots from the CD first. |

Dude... I can't use PMagic- I can't get into the OS
The CD is the Windows98 SE CD ;P
Well, I'm pretty sure the MoBo (Asus p4s533-x) won't let me change to actual order, just disable a given drive... if I'm wrong, i wouldn't mind instructions
Xeroid- how exactly would i do that? |

| Did you make your emergency floppies with PM? If you did, you can use those to boot and fix your format. |

They will boot on a computer even if it does'nt have a HDD.

A modern board wont let you change the order of boot devices????? Hmm, maybe you better uhh "re-think" that one and get back to us, lol.
If you boot to a win98se bootdisk, cant you just run fdisk and just delete the partitions and start again? I am sure there are lots of ways to fix this.
You are booting from a w98se cd and you are getting options to wipe data??? hmmm.
