| Any experience with 6 in 1 card reader?
We bought the "In-Win" Model i-500 " internal card reader.
Installed it into the spare 3.5 bay, connected the cable to the internal USB on the "P4P 800 Deluxe" Mobo and installed the software driver.
The LED light comes on but the Smart Media Card will not read.
Does anybody have experience with this card reader?
We have WinXP Home w.SP1 |

No it's not showing up in the Device Manager.
Also, according to the instructions (which are kinda meager) I'm supposed to see the extra drives in Explorer, which are not there.
Have emailed the company but got no response so far... |

And it should show up in "my computer" as several new drives. Like "e" "f" "g" probably or maybe just e,f depending on how many actual slots there are.
The only other thing that comes to mind is that sometimes the usb "pinout" on some motherboards is different than other boards...so sometimes you hafta actually move some pins around in the female connectors going to the motherboard.

No, none of the drives are showing up in Explorer or MyComputer.
Have plugged into the only feasable USB connection on the Mobo.
So, it's probably not the right one....Will open it up today to take another look at it. |

Problem solved!
There is a cluster of 4 small connectors that plug into the motherboard. Two of them were turned the wrong way.
All the icon are there now and everything is working great. |

Generic brand. Mine came with two different leads. The pin count is different. I went to my mobo book looked up the pins function and color code matched that to the pin color code in the reader. On the second try the reader came up in my computer and the device mgr.I hope this helps. I got no instructions just a crummy pencil sketch. |

Thanks Uncle Bob.
I got very little instructions too. Got the pencil scetch from their website.
Even then it was a guessing game. But now all the different icons show up in My Computer and it works well. |
