| yay a new 80gig harddrive!
so i get a nice new out of the antistatic bag WD800 80gig westerndigital harddrive! yay i thought, i have a new harddrive that can finally store all my files on....
it lasted 2 days..
lost 10gigs worth of pictures from all my family events over the last year or two....5 gigs of programs, and tons of school work
how could a westerndigital *DELETED* out on me after two days, what happened to the reliability and quality...
ive had more luck with 5 year old 4gig harddrives already....and thats over a 4 year period, ive only had the 80gig three days now
sorry for the rant but im quite pissed i understand your angry but please watch the language

nope no noises, i noticed it when i opened my computer, the drive icon was goine. so i did a bit of looking at cables and stuff, nothing out of ordinary, so i run the diag's from their site, smart error, 0165, whatever that means, i call them and they say "that drive is bad send it in" i ask them if they would cover shipping on it seeing as its only 3 days old "no sir, im sorry, well cover the shipping on the one we send to you though" , "how thoughtful, im glad your not making me pay for the shipping on both the drives, after all your drive didnt last more than 72 hours"

you couldnt look at it and tell?? I can look at em and tell..you just eyeball when they come out of the bag and size em up....some of em just look like they wont make it. Of course, some have poker eyes and you just cant tell.
J/k, lol. It sucks when new stuff dies.

Did it still power up? I just traded my 60 GB WD drive for one of these brand new 80 GB WD's. Ive had it about 2 weeks now and it hasnt died YET. Lots of people say they die really quickly so im kinda regretting trading it now.

is it true that if a drive lasts over a certain period of time that it should make it quite a while longer? I am afraid now for my WD 80GB |

must be a good majority of the 30gig's do that after a certain point in time....i managed to find the 80gig for $55 shipped so im not that mad at the drive, just the data lost, unreplaceable pics and a 2 year collection of rally clips, and interesting stuff....proggies can be replaced i guess... |
