Poor quality transfer Camcorder to PC

I have a Panasonic Camcorder. When looking at the video on it's display or on TV, the image is excellent. When I transfer it via my AIW 9000 the quality is so poor, you wouldn't believe it. I use Moviemaker 2 on winXP pro (P4-2.4/512) to make the transfer. What do I do wrong ? Tia

I have almost the same problem, the only difference is I'm using an AIW 8500DV. The original video looks fine, but after the rendering into mpg2 format to burn to DVD it comes out crappy. I was using ULEAD Studio 6 to do the transferring. So my conclusion is that converting from vhs or direct from camcorder just doesn't work well all the time. As a matter of fact, I just went out and bought DVD X Maker to see if that software will work any better. I will probably test it out this weekend and see. If anybody else has any other ideas for Jackeric and myself please let us know!

I bought the DVD X Maker and when I try to capture video it just locks up my computer! I just wasted $100 and I've checked a few forums, including the one from the makers of DVD X Maker and other people have had the same problems with their AIW 8500 video cards not being recognized by the program and locking them up too. So far I haven't found any patches or fixes for the problem. Help!
