upgraded cpu on laptop but laptop fan comes on but it does not boot, HELP!!!!

I got a laptop, it a solo 2150 version 1.5. It has a 600mhz mpga2 on it. When I upgrade it to a 800mhz, everything power up except the screen and it does not boot. I put the 600mhz back in and it boot. Then try with a 700mhz and it does the same thing as the 800mhz. I checked gateway and it same it support the 700mhz. Any suggestion will be helpful. Help!!

Unhappy

I flashed the bios to 17.52 for solo. It did the same thing as above. Any other idea would help.
Thanks

Yes you need to reset the BIOS so you can tell it you have changed to a different CPU. The older BIOS types did not do this automatically. During the initial boot screen, you should hit the either the Delete or F2 key in most cases to enter the BIOS.
