All you did was swap the CPU?
What OS are you using?
Have you reset the cable modem? Unplug the power for about 15-20 seconds, plug it back in...that way it can recognize the NIC again.

ok here is the deal.... right now i have 3 computers sitting here. only ONE can get onto the internet. the other two the lights for the cable modem are all on, and the lights for the ethernet are also on.
for the computer where i replace the processor, it was b/c i burnt out the old one. i replaced it w/ an amd athlonXP 2200, but for some reason it seems to run slower, WTf????
so will resettting the cable modem really work?
thanks

Cris | Well I can't guarantee that of course, but it is probably the #1 fix for connection errors/problems...aside from rebooting. Just give it a shot, only takes 20 seconds! |

Usually when my DSL goes down I unplug the modem and router, go get something to drink, and come back and plug in the modem first then the router. If that still doesn't work, I just reboot my computer and that usually takes care of it. |

Whenever I put my AMD Athlon XP 2500+ and always "auto-adjusts" to 100mhz fSB so I have to change it to 166mhz. I think 1.8 runs at 100mhz usually but I would double check. |

You need to go into your BIOS. Usually whenever your computer starts up you will have to press DEL or another button to get there. |
