Hi,
when my computer starts up it enters the AwardBios Setup Utility.
These are the settings:
CPU speed [Manual] - on the right it says during the last boot-up, your system hung for improper frequency combination. Your system is now working in safe mode. To optimize the system performance and reliability, make sure the frequency combination conforms to the specification of your CPU, DIMM and other connected devices.
CPU Frequency Multiple [12.5x]
CPU External Frequency (MHz) [200/40] - on the right it says Caution: According to CPU external frequency setting, system memory can only operate at frequency higher than or equal to 333MHz. Please make sure the DRAM max frequency is not less than 333MHz
Memory Frequency [Auto]
CPU Vcore Setting [Auto]
CPU Level 1 Cache [enabled]
CPU level 2 Cache [enabled]
OS/2 Onboard Memory > 64M [disabled]
I tried the set up defaults (F5) and saved and exit, but then the monitor just goes on standby mode and I have to unplug the computer to switch it off.
I would phone the helpline, but it's only there Mon - Fri.
You guys are my only hope!! |

set the cpu speed to "auto" or "SPD", and the system should boot at the rated speed of the cpu/ram. |

The pc 2700 runs at 166, so I would set it at 2083 (divided by) 12.5 = 166 mhz. That is "double pumped" to achieve 333 mhz. |

| I too have that problem!!!
Hello guyz!
I too have that problem... my system does'nt boot, and whenever it does, it goes into the Award BIOS Utility and the error message is " Your system hung for improper frequency combination" . My processor is Intel Pentium 4 1.7 GHz, and I have a 128 MB DDR RAM. I tried the Auto setting, I tried 100 MHz x 17x multiple but they don't work.
Please help...

Don't know P4 that well, but that multiple sounds way too high.
Try to load "performance defaults" in the voltage control page, save and exit. |
