| sound on ecs board not working?
hi guys. i just did a complete reformat of a system with a ecs board on it, and now there is no sound. The sound was integrated...do you still need drivers for it? Please let me know, my bro needs it for college tomorrow.

the board probably uses the ac97 sound chip (it's pretty common) and that will need drivers...

Yeah it is probably AC97 sound... drop by ECS website and download the mobo drivers, install. Should fix your problem.

If your mobo came with a CD, the driver should be on there. Otherwise, take wyvrn's advice and download it from ECS's website.

it did not come with a cd, i have it downloaded adn will install it today. thanks guys.

dunno if this works for onboards, but refreshing BIOS brings back sound VERY often, because VERY often it is lost after formats. | |

well i didn't have time, so i just put the driver on a cd, and he's gonna do it tonight at college. I'll let you know, i'm pretty sure that is what it is. otherwise i will try the refreshing bios like you said inquistive goat. Thanks again guys. i'll let you know
