| DPS slot?
"IDE: 4x UltraDMA 66/100/133 up to 4 Devices
Slots: 1x AGP Pro 8X/4X, 5x PCI, 1x DPS

You usually have CNR (Communications Network Riser) or AMR (Audio/Modem Riser), never heard of DPS. But it's probably some connector for a riser card. What mobo is it? Linkage.

It's that card next to the CPU. Probably just a Gigabyte thing. |

It's Gigabyte's voltage regulator. It just lets the CPU get the cleanest possible power.

the notorious dps, seems to have about a 60/40 success rate.
Some users have had to remove it from the equasion because it caused them start up problems, boot loops, ect.....
Others have had no problem with it, and the common denominator seems to be brand and quality of power supply.
More info on the board youre considering: Gigabyte New Owners FAQ 7NNXP FAQ
Need anymore info on the giga nforce2 boards, send me a pm.
Laterz,

whoa, hold on here a second. I wasn't considering that board, I just wanted to know what that DPS thing-a-ma-jig was. I posted a link to the board I am considering on another one of my posts in this thread. |

Well, that sure confused me, I followed the fist link and saw the giga board, thats why I responded in the first place, oh well never mind then.
As for the soyo, no response there I dont do via chipset boards anymore. |
