I have the Antec Performance plus 660 AMG case, it came with the TruePower 330. I ordered a new Radeon 9800 Pro and I wonder if this will be enough power to support my system.
Pentium 4 2A & 2.4 with Vantec Aeroflow
MSI 845E Max mobo
768 MB PC 2100&2700
WD 80 GB 7200 RPM HDD
Maxtor 20 GB 7200 RPM HDD
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128
Liteon 4X4X12 DVD+R/+RW Drive
Memorex 52X24X52 CD-R/-RW Drive
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! Platinum
ATI TV Wonder VE
Netgear FA311 I think, 100 MB NIC
3 Case fan's
Blue Cold Cathode lights, 2 Bulb kit.
So far its working great, but I have not received my 9800 pro yet. |

well, 330 watts on normal power supply id say definately no. a TruPower could probably handle it (toms hardware review tested them to put out like 50 watts beyond their rating), but even if it worked id probably strain the powersupply quite a bit. I'd vie for at least a good quality 400W with that setup. |

I dont have the $ for a new PSU, so you think my current will handle it fine. |

I think you'll be just fine... I've got a PC with similar power requirments with an Enermax 350 and no problems with it. |

its not the wattage you need to be worried about it is the amperage more than the wattage . here is a link that will kinda give you an idea of how many watts you will need for you system .when useing keep this in mind Quote: |
Please Note: The Wattages listed below are maximum potential wattages for each item. The total amount this calculator figures is for all devices running at peak utilization. It is important to bear in mind that this amount will never be reached under typical operation. However we feel that this tool will give you a better idea of how much power your system will need. After all when it comes to power, it is better to be safe than sorry.
| here is a link that will give you an idea of what kinda amps you will be pulling with your system . check the side of your power supply and see what amps it will push .
example the antec 330 does 17a on the 12 volt rail . add up what you have in your system that uses the 12 volt rail and if it is 20% - 10% less that what you supply will put out you should be ok . do the same for the 3.3v and 5v rails also .
hope dis helps . |

Currently, I'm writing 5 reviews on various Fortron power supplies with wattages ranging from 300w to 530w, and so far, I max everything out on the PSU, and the 350 unit that I'm reviewing now, let's just say I use the same things I did with the 400w unit, and the worst that's happening now is the power flucuations on the +12v line. It's still within the 5% of it, so there's nothing really to worry about. In other words, with good power supplies you can sleep easy, but don't go over kill on it either. |

So far, its as stable as a rock, upgrading the video card should not be a huge power drain. |

Good to hear.
The Antec 'True' series are excellent power supplies.
Ask Whir about PS units, I think he runs a 300 watt in his system (or was it 250) and has no problems.
