Video cable extender?
Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a video cable extender? I am trying to hook up an xbox to my home entertainment center, but I can't get the video and audio to work on the same channel. So I was going to just bypass the entertainment center by extending the video cable directly to the TV while still routing the audio to the surround sound unit.
I need a video cable with a male connector at one end and a female connector at the other. Does this exist? Where can I get one?

any radio shack best buy or frys should have them... gonna run probably more than 50 dollars... why not just go buy the ends you need and cable and build them for cheaper ?

The home theater system is a magnavox "Digital Surround Sound Reciever" model # MFX-450.
Is that possible Jokostel? I've done that with a coaxial cable, but I've never tried it with a video cable.
EDIT:
I have a video cable with 2 male connectors that came with the surround sound unit. All I would need is the female connector.Last edited by jch216; December 28th, 2003 at 02:31 PM.

Would this work?

I plug the xbox end to one side and the extra wire to the other side. Then just plug the wire into the television.

shoudlnt be a problem if you wanna use a coupler... i dont see a reason as to why that wouldnt work... its a passthough.
never thought about couplers... you may get a little extra noise... but probably so minute you wont notice.

I've used RCA couplers before, they work just fine... and if for some reason it doesnt solve your problem you're only out a few dollars

Try www.pcliquidator.com
They have standard vga extension cables. Is that what you need?“Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.”

Thanks everybody.
