Mouse Jams on Logon (Xp)

Hello i need some help on fixing my mouse it always jams on logon whenever i turn on my computer i have to restart it about 3-4 times to get it working i've tried evreything that comes in to my head this is the last thing so if yo can help me it will be a pleasure.

Running on Xp pro and Mouse (USB)

couple of questions:

do you have any other usb devices?
if so do they still work?
are they on a usb hub?

have you tried a different usb port?
have you tried a usb to ps2 adapter?

have you tried going to the mouse's manufacturers website and downloading the latest drivers?

have you tried a different mouse?
