OK. As some of you may know, I'm not good at web design. But I've started to redesign my personal site. Can you let me know what you think? NEW OLD
If you could vote in my poll there, I would appreciate it.
I Know, that it doesn't look right in Opera. I need to use some other colors besides my names colors I think.
But I do have one question I'm not sure about. The sidebar on the left--I have some transparent tables to space them apart. It works fine in IE. In Opera, it shows up green. Does anyone know how to get it truly transparent there?
Thanks.
Updated: switched "new" link to main website. Changed the header too.

Very nice. Your poll works well also. I maintain a website (6-7 pgs). I'd like to learn how to make one or two pages secure, i.e. one who needs ccess to sensitive info listed on such a page would simply use a login with a password, which I - as administrator - could change periodically.
Any ideas?
Thx.

Brangwen, not sure, but i think dynamicdrive.com might have some. Just make sure you get some of the more advanced ones, as the others can easily be cracked by viewing source, etc.
oh yah, like the new website, and voted on the poll

First, thanks for the kind words. The ONLY reason I know any server side coding is because of my background as a thick-client programmer. Before ASP.Net came out, the only thing I knew for web pages was basic HTML. So, when ASP.Net came out, I saw that I could leverage my VB and C# skills. Anyways, what I'm saying is the only way I can help you is if you use ASP.Net. Authorization and Authentication is fairly easy in ASP.Net.
I have no idea what kind of info you are talking about. It sounds as though it might be information from a database. While I understand, appreciate, and use web-based technology to work with/edit information, sometimes I find it easier to create a desktop application to work with the data as it can be easier, and less sluggish than a web-based interface. |
