GoDaddy SSL Certificates

I know there was a conversation a few weeks back about the great prices GoDaddy has for SSL Certificates. My concern was how compatible they were with the wide range of web browsers (despite their 99% compliance claim - which I think is inflated).

Is anyone here actually using one?

I'd like to hear some first hand experience before I dive in head first...

Sorry I can't help you with that particular thing, but I've heard through the grapevine that GoDaddy != good. I've been told to promote registerfly.com and gkg.net (per my host).

I don't know how SSL certs couldn't be compatible with any major browser. Are you worried about people using lynx?

As I understand it...

In order to be "trusted" by a browsers, the organization issuing an SSL certificate must be know to the browser in advance. In the early days of browsers, only companies like VeriSign and Thawte came pre-bundled with the Browser. Over time, many more companies started selling SSL Certs, and were incorporated into the base browser installation.

The problem is, lots of people still run very old browsers. From what I can tell, the certs from GoDaddy won't work with anyone running Netscape prior to 4.7, or IE prior to 5.0. That's a small, but still significant percentage of the population.
