So does anyone know how I can get a copy of the database? |
IF YOU CAN upload to your home directory, you can upload phpmyadmin and run it from there (probably, I have) , It should work, you can then do a database dump with it.

Thanks crouse. I downloaded and uploaded Myphpadmin and realised that the Plesk system has this in it, but I didnt know what it was or how to use it before. Doh!
So I made a dump of the database so now hopefully I should be able to use the Plesk system on the other server and import the database.
Thanks all. |

Thanks all. | If you have telnet access on your other machine..... you can upload the database and import it via the command line pretty easy too..... (or ssh is even better). I believe phpmyadmin can import a database also....
Honestly, I haven't used plesk 7 hardly at all.
Good luck |

I just tried to SSH into the server with PUTTY and no luck with any of the usernames or passwords that I know of.
Plesk allows me to create a new database but not import one. Myphpadmin dosent seem to have an inport button like it has an export one.
So im kinda stuck again. But half way there
EDIT: filipino, I had a look at mysql turbo manager and it doesent seem to be free and in the description it dosent seem to do what I want anyway, But thanks anyway

Thanks crouse,
I have already tried what that tutorial said and the myphpadmin window just sat there for ages and ended up doing nothing. I tried useing the 120kb gzipped file I made and the raw 2mb sql file. I only have dialup so maybe it was just to slow adn timed out or something.
After doing some searching on the aussiehost forums I found that they dont support SSH but they will do shell tasks on request through the support system.
I think this is the easy way to do it. So thanks again for all the help. |

I use mysql administrator, you can connect to the database and create a complete backup, then dump that backup into another server (you need create privliges on create server)
I've done it a couple of times, nice and quick too...
this is a standalone program... available from mysql's website |
