| Data base? I think/nope/form help
I Recently signed up with IX Webhosting with the value plan for a year.
I created a simple site for a mortgage broker business.
I loged in the IX site to manage my options and came across a lot of stuff I don't know about.
I have a few options:
Under DataBases-
MySQL Server
phpMyAdmin
PgSQL Server
phpPgAdmin
I don't know what those mean.
I want to set up a sheet where people can submit information about
the money they make
the amout of the house their interested in
time on the job
and so on, kind of a prequalify thing.
I can create a sheet with these feilds but I'm not sure how to get them to submit to me via email.
Can one of the above help me set up a database like I looking for?
Naz

They are basically two choices in Database server and Administrative tools,
MySQL(server) and phpMyAdmin(admin tool) being one choice and the other two being the other choice.
I run MySQL and phpMyAdmin, and I find it very easy to use.
You could create a php page that sends the data from a form to the database. It could easily be done by someone who knows PHP. |

I did some reading about the above and am still a bit lost. I made a site with the fields I would like to know about my future clients but would like to get the submit button (just text) to send it to three different email addresses. Is this possible? Is this very difficult? What will it look like if I were to get it to send to my email? Will it be hard to read?
In my control panel at IX Webhosting is say I some how created a MySQL Database, it shows I'm using 1 of 3. I played with it but got confused. http://www.equitablefinancialgroup.c...%20Qualify.htm
Thanks,

hmm mysql database if you like familiar with MS Access it kind of like that but some diff. mysql can be use with PHP, CFM, ASAP and ASP.NET.
hmm if your going to create just a mailform its not that hard to do, you dont need to work on you MYSQL not unless if you planning to store some data like this TECHIMO Forum
MySQL is Good for like if your website has registration form so user can register and login to your website, MYSQL will store all the data that the user has sign up so anytime the user request to log in "PHP, CFM, ASP etc. language will communicate with MYSQL to search for that user, if successfull then the user can login to your website.
it very diffecult to explain how this things works without a blackboard
also good for Guestbook, Discussion Board (like this forum) there are a lot of things you can do with php and mysql you can use a ready made portal website called phpnuke and also ready made forum like phpbb and other sutff.

Okay, I got the form to email to me and almost everything seems to be working good.
After the submit button is clicked the page changes to a conformation page (not really but kind of) the page list all the information and says that the information has been sent to my email.
I have a few buggs.
I want the form to not let them selet submit unless all feilds are filled out, you know the error box that tells them they missed a field.
Also, when their finished and go to the page after submit I want to put a link on their to return to home page or close window.
Feel free to go there and see what I'm talking about. You don't have to fill in any info just hit submit and see. http://www.equitablefinancialgroup....e%20Qualify.htm
Thanks,
