| Help With HTTP Uploading....
Im trying to set a page up on my site so that some of my friends can upload videos and pics and stuff. Im using the "advanced upload" script here . The script works great but i would like to modify it so that you can upload a whole folder full of stuff. That away the page that stuff is getting uploaded to will be more ordanized instead of just having tons of files in one spot....
Anyone have any info on this???
Thanks, |

Probably would be easier to teach them how to use ftp...... with ftp you can move entire directories.. most php/perl/web enabled upload systems upload individual files, some have mult file upload capabilities, but ftp works better for moving alot of files.
But you might check here for a script that might do what you want .... http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Script...ems/index.html |

I agree with crouse. If your people are going to be doing a lot of data transfers, look into getting an FTP server program. Linux has many free FTP servers available and Windows Server 2003 comes with an FTP server built in.
If you're worried about file security and user name / password security, both Windows and Linux solutions will allow you to limit users' access to the system to just their home directory if you wish. You can even make it so they can upload files but not delete them, or read them but not delete them or write them.
If you're interested in a secure FTP solution, Linux has free SFTP servers available... and there's even a free (albeit difficult to setup) SFTP server for Windows 2000 / XP / 2003 Server systems. Leave another message if you're interested in this. |

Im renting a web server and i would like to dedicate some of it so that ppl can upload content. I had an ftp account setup where ppl could upload stuff to but i can only make an account where the user has full admin over the directory i set. Therefore i have trouble with idiots getting in there and deleting all the files
are there like ftp scripts out there or something i could make it so ftp users can only upload and not delete???
im hosting with made2own.com btw |
