Why? All I do is copy and paste

Why when I take this:
<!---END VOTING POLL CODE---></p>

and copy it into ms frontpage it comes out like this:
&lt;!---END VOTING POLL CODE---&gt;</p>

I copied alot of code into frontpage and all of my < > are exchange with
the above.

I'm tring to put a poll on my site and this is to much for me understand.
This has been happening for a while but I have been replacing with the <> but now I need answers.

Why does it do that?

Are you inserting the code in the "code" tab of the page or are you pasting it into the HTML creation window? You must add it to the code page for it to take it literally and for it to not change it.

I found another poll site, set it up and copied and pasted like it supose to do. I don't know why it did that from the other site but it wasn't the first time that happened.
