Hi Everyone,
I've created a new program that I think some of you might be interested in. It's called the CSI Web Monitor . What it does is go out and check a list of web sites you specify on a regular basis to ensure that they're still running smoothly.
This has two key benefits:
* First, it will allow web site owners to keep tabs on their web site to ensure it's still available to the public. As we know, things happen. Servers occasionally crash. Your database server dies. The network at your IHP goes down. It's inevitable. With the Web Monitor, you'll (hopefully) know about it before your customers do!
* Second, it can also be used as a "Keep Alive" service for your ASP.net sites. It loads up your site just like a user with a web browser would, so when it's set at a reasonable interval, the program will keep your web site from unloading and slowing down that first page load.
For more information on the program, and to download a beta copy, visit the web site at: http://www.chameleon-systems.com/WebMonitor.asp A few notes:
* The program has been developed and tested on Windows XP, but it may well run on other versions of Windows also. In fact, I'd be curious to know...
* There are a few system requirements, so check the README.txt after you install.
* This is a BETA version of the program. Please bear with me if there a few bumps along the way, and don't set your entire business up to rely on the program just yet.
* I've setup a forum for providing feedback and suggestions. It's also on the web site.
I hope this helps a few of you out there. I look forward to your comments. |

My web site is on my intranet. I've forwarded in port 80 on my internet connection to this intranet address. Most of my failures are probably link related rather than apache failures. I like the idea but I can't see this working for me. |

Nice utility - especially for those who manage multiple websites and want to be notified whenever there is any sort of downtime.
I'll check it out.

Testers still needed. Webmasters: If you haven't checked the program out yet, please take a minute to give it a try. Thanks. |

well, I'm running it on 98 SE. It loads fine, but I cant get it to change websites to check. Each time it goes to check the sites again, it always reverts to compuadds and bluesnoir.
