A few newbie questions about C++

Well, I don't have too much programming experience, but I mastered HTML, Actionscript, and know a bit of PHP and Visual Basic.

I am ready to get into C++, and I want to learn to walk before anything else.

I am using Dev-C++ to program C++, because a lot of people told me that it was great. When I start a new project, there are already 90 lines automatically put into my program. So.. If anybody is familiar with Dev-C++, would you mind showing me a simple Hello World program, and also telling me where to insert your code among the other 90 lines?

Also, I know that this is going to sound stupid, but what does "#include <windows.h>" mean? I see it in every C++ compiler.

Thanks a lot!

When I run your hello world program, it opens in MS-DOS and says "Press any key to continue". When I press a key, it closes. Umm.. What's going on?

Despite it's prevalence, Windows is not one of the better OSes to learn C++ on. Without strictly MS software/frameworks, it is not very "developer friendly". However, if you chose to remain with this platform, I'd advise grabbing the following for your tutelage:
Hope this helps.
