| Newbie at creating a web page
I have never attempted to create a web page. Can anyone recommend a simple user friendly program to use and give me links as to how to create a functioning web page. I would also like to know how to get this web page to rank high in search engines so any help doing that would be appreciated.
Thanks |

The best thing to do is to learn HTML first. Code it in notepad. Get an understanding of it, learn CSS to position elements etc. Check out www.w3schools.com |

I have paid for Frontpage but if there are any simple and free programs I would be interested in knowing about them.
Thanks |

Notepad is simple, and if you have Windows its free. Otherwise your favorite text editor.
I second W3Schools, here a link directly to their tutorial: http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp
I would NOT use frontpage as it is very bloated when creating code. If you MUST use a program, use Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Blaze | Completely agree with you Blazer. I have worked with FrontPage and it is not a pleasant experience. Dreamweaver is the way to go, and if you don't have money to buy it, it's really a pity. Notepad is simple enough, and if you don't know HTML, there are plenty of books avaliable.

I think Frontpage is wonderful, I've been using it a couple of years and don't like Macromedia as much. |

People have had good experiences with Frontpage. IMO its one of the worst but hey, to each his own....and since you already have it might as well use it. If you get serious about web page building I'd move to something stronger (Macromedia!).
You can also try Homesite+ which is made by Macromedia. A somewhat glorified text editor made for webpage building. It has some nice shortcut buttons for the space code ( ) and other handy things and its relatively small. Dont know if its free or not though. W3 schools is very helpful and after you read through it just start coding stuff. When you find you wanna learn how to create say a table or some CSS files, use the your best friend known as google !! Or if your the puzzle solving type then figure it out on your own
