getting my site online

hey all, I got my win2003 IIS server rolling with a website working locally, how do I get the baby online for the world? also I can't look at my site without getting a login box, how do I get rid of that? I have usergroup "everyone" with full control.

If this is your personal server at your house and you are behind a router then you need to setup port-forwarding to your server machine. Also, you need to check whether or not your ISP blocks port 80 (some do). If it does its a simple matter of changing the port the IIS server is running on in the IIS Manager console.

You must allow Internet Users access to the folders. Im not exactly sure because I dont have the IIS console in front of me (and I haven't done it enough to remember outright) but its either in there or you need to manually set the proper access to the folder by right clicking on it then going to security and add the user group IUSER or something of that equivalent. There is also a page in the IIS console that sets whether anonymous users can log into your site...maybe this is the setting you are looking for.

hi tek, how can someone get to my website? do I need to configure a dns?

I have anonymous turned on and IUSER in all my permissions boxes with read and execute, the error I get is 401.5 Authorization failed by an ISAPI/CGI application
