java on MAC OS

my friend who is doing java has a mac and he asked me if i know of a compiler he can use. i told him to just get netbeans that comes with the jdk. then i went to the sun website to check and turns out that doesnt come for MAC OS. looking around some more, i found that neither does the JDK or even the JRE!

so
how do you compile or even run java on a mac?

Eclipse by far is the BEST IDE / Complier I have EVER used.

Yes, it works on almost any platform.

The JDK and JRE are included with every mac. Just start javac'ing away.

If you want a more complete environment, I highly recommend xCode or Eclipse.

In xCode, just create a new project and scroll down until you find the java project types.
