you mean you want the calcuator to solve your variables, i dont think that they can do that.
if they could then that would be extremly cheap for tests..... |

i know that the 89 can do it, and there was a rumor that the 83+ can do it. i know the 82 cant, and im pretty sure the 83 cant (although the 83+ might be able to....)
usually (at least in my old highschool and here at college) all of the ones that can solve variable equations are banned from tests. |

It's F2 under solve.
The equation would look like this: solve(5+x=15,x) I suppose you could also type that in manually if you felt so inclined. BTW, it appears as though you need to take an hour or two to read the manual. This is a simple equation. Your calculator can do much, much more

[EDIT] I have a TI-89, and I know the TI-83+ can do this... but not sure on others.

I think something like this.
Basically, the person has to input X for one of the variables
Disp"A+B=C"
Prompt A
Prompt B
Prompt C
If
A=X
Then
Disp"X is" C-B
If
B=X
Then
Disp"X is" C-A
If C=X
Then
Disp"X is" A+B
DelVar X
DelVar A
DelVar B
DelVar C
