| Show me your Dreamweaver work
I recently picked up a copy of Dreamweaver MX 2004. It is a tough program to grasp quickly. I have read through several online tutorials and that certainly helped.
I am interested in seeing some work that you all have created using it.

I created www.atholdailynews.com (beta stage 1b still... so don't mind weird errors on older browsers) with notepad
IMHO, I have never really seen an use for dreamweaver. I found it cluncky and difficult to use. I might look at 2004's edition.

you gotta realize man, without a good graphics sense, youre not going to be able to make crazy cool websites. dreamweaver is more a wysiwyg layout prog for people who either dont know, or are too lazy to program HTML. i use it sometimes to clean up my notepad written code, other than that, blah! |

Exactly. What I like about it, is that it is WYSIWYG, BUT it does provide descent HTML support. I am just not too good in HTML, and Dreamweaver has really helped me make the websites without extensive knowledge of the language, although I do aim to learn it better. |

| Oh no... terrible... just kidding; but I do really hate WYSIWYG editors. My Dreamweaver is permanently "stuck" in code mode. Quote: |

| Fortunately, you don't need to be with Dreamweaver. If you know the basics of what tags do what, you can get in-depth description of parameters and syntax usage from the reference panel (not that I would ever do such a thing )
Maybe I'm just retarted or something but I don't use Dreamweaver like most people do. Almost everything I do in it is done by hand. Like I still make database interfaces by hand. I just feel I have more control over it. And it's a lot easier to modify a site a year later if you actually wrote it yourself rather than letting something else do it for you.
To me, dreamweaver is notepad with syntax highlighting (really helps track down bugs) and integrated account managment with FTP.
Anyway, DMXzone has some decent tutorials for getting started if you're still looking for some. |

| Well, it's really quite a shame you use a program so powerful for just these tasks. I'm not implying anything, and if that's the way you make your sites, hey, that's great, but I just saying that it has great potential, this program. And, I am not really "bad" in HTML, I just can't build a whole site in Notepad, like some people can. |

Dreamweaver is perfect for simple, static pages. It's made for people who don't have the capacity or time or motivation to learn XHTML or HTML.
The reason I don't use it, is because I like to define everything myself, and know EXACTLY what is going on with what code. And because most of my sites are generated by PHP scripts anyways, and as far as I know, dreamweaver doesn't do that.
