Huh, how are you opening them, precisely.

http::/127.0.0.1/some.html and also just by the absolute path like /home/me/some.html woohoo my server is running lol

even if it were in the user public_html directory wouldnt i be able to see the page by http::/127.0.0.1/~username/file?

edit:: just tried it yea it works that way....just cant get the php going

Uncomment Include /etc/apache/mod_php.conf in your /etc/apache/httpd.conf file.

And yes ~user should work, although I turn it off in httpd.conf.

i tried restarting the apache server by apachectl restart and it is ignoring it so i stopped and cant get it started again??? rebooting

the comment didnt show any changes

In your /var/log/apache/error_log file.
