the index.html file works and so does any other html/htm file (regardless of directory). |

http::/127.0.0.1/some.html and also just by the absolute path like /home/me/some.html woohoo my server is running lol |

even if it were in the user public_html directory wouldnt i be able to see the page by http::/127.0.0.1/~username/file?
edit:: just tried it yea it works that way....just cant get the php going  |

Uncomment Include /etc/apache/mod_php.conf in your /etc/apache/httpd.conf file.
And yes ~user should work, although I turn it off in httpd.conf. |

i tried restarting the apache server by apachectl restart and it is ignoring it so i stopped and cant get it started again??? rebooting
the comment didnt show any changes |

Do you get something like
[notice] Apache/xxxx (Unix) PHP/xxxx mod_perl/xxxx configured -- resuming normal operations
In your /var/log/apache/error_log file. |
