Hi All,
I am trying to find premade templates or pages that I can use on my website. What I am looking to do is have a page with a login box and password where it can authenticate the user. It will be used for my customers to log in to check their account, know if they owe me money and will be able to pay their invoices through that. I'm probably getting into something I won't be able to handle but its worth a shot. I know really nothing about coding a website so the less information I need to type in the better.
Thanks Again!!! |

We need more information. Is the file going to call on a database that will hold the username and password info? Is the server running php or asp?
Basically, we need more info on the system that you're using.

apache, mySQL, php
All free and works great.
There's tons of stuff online about authentication scripts online, but if you're going to have stuff involving peoples money you definately need encrypted connections.

Strictly speaking you should also encrypt the connections with https pages. You shuold have a server certificate and have paid (I know, it's horrible) a certifying agency to verify it. IE and others have built in IP addresses that they use to check certificates against. You have to pay these organisations to do so.
I was at a site not 2 hours ago where this was not done and the result is a message from the web browser saying the certificate could not be verified. So I refused to enter my card details.
Of course if it's only a limited number of clients you can tell them it's OK. Firefox at least will remember you've accepted the certificate. IE asks you every time (frustrating this is). |

You can install the cert in IE too, if you selct view it, there is an option to do this.
