Simple Code help

Anyone know a simple format, for what I want to do.
I need to have people come to my site, fill out a form, then there name appears on a list on the site, so you can tell they signed up.
Any ideas?

Operating system, windows or linux?
Web server, IIS or Apache (will run windows)?
Scripting language, php, (java), perl, asp (windows only)?
Database, Access (yuck), MySQL, Firebird?

Personally when I do this I go linux, apache, php and mysql. php creates the webpage, responds to the post and updates the sql database, interrogates the database and creates the web page, all when apache requests it.

Uh, I use windows xp.

OK, then you can probably use iis and asp without having to install anything. You will have to turn them on though. I never use this approach.

You have the option of installing apache, php and mysql on windows XP. I'd say that this is not for the faint hearted though. You will need to make some choices.

There is also the hosting issue. Depending on your ISP and your agreement you may not be permitted to host your own web server and they may actively block the relevant ports. You will have to look into this.
