My middle school uses this program called ClassRoomXP that takes attendence and does the grades for each student. But im sick of waiting for the teachers to upgrade me new grade every 5 weeks. here what classroomXP does.. http://www.eats.ecsd.net/staffenhance/trainingprg.html
What kind of programming would that be? C++?
And, would it be possible to make a program like that, but have it somehow become server-side and connect to the server is when you update it in the program it will automatically update on the school website? |

yea...it's probably C++ but as for making your own program..i wouldn't really count on it. If you are looking for a real server side app for all that stuff you could check out x2 for your school. Not sure if it fits what u want perfectly but we just got it at our school and it seems ok. a lot better than the nordex we were using!! |

Yeah, you could make the program in several different languages ( VB, C++, Delphi, Java, etc.) but I don't think it's worth actually doing. Not only would you have to make it all and make it all work, but you'd have to make sure it's secure and everything, especially if you're gonna do it server side etc. I mean, SASI and ClassroomXP have been around a while and have been updates so many times for security flaws. Even with all the updates my friend and I would regularly hack those things last year. We hacked it and "compromised security" (as the administration put it) so many times that it landed us jobs in the IT dept. in our school while we were still attending. Aside from getting us jobs it also got us suspended just about every week . I guess it's not a good idea to leave them messages saying you just decided to change everyones grade because you were bored or that everyones birthday is now gonna be January 1, 2008 because Mr. X smells funny .
But anyway, I digress; my point is that, although it could be done (with minimal programming skills and a couple hundred hours), it wouldn't be worth it, in my opinion. It'd probably be easier/cheaper/more practical to ask the developers of said software to simply implement the new "features" and buy the new version. Also, you wouldn't have to worry about having to teach the teachers how to use "new software". |

High School IT Dept = Normal IT Department at 25% skill and efficiency. *No offense to any High School IT teachers or anything.
I'm sure you could make the program, it would just be a long, strenous battle before it finally worked.
