I played with ColdFusion a while ago when it was still a product of Allaire. Now macromedia has it (required software): http://www.macromedia.com/software/coldfusion/
It's powerful! But at the same time, it is still somewhat difficult to learn and use. I can't speak first-hand about the ColdFusion MX 7 version, but macromedia does have a free 30-day trial. Use the tutorials and see if you can learn it quickly, or see if you even like it.

Coldfusion really isn't too hard to learn compared to other languages. It's HTML style tags make it quite easy actually.
That being said I don't think there is a larger resource hog in existence. Also not many places use it when compared to other languages for comparable tasks. You would be much better off with something else.
What are you specificly trying to learn with coldfusion?

Coldfusion? i think i master coldfusion but not worth it, first of, clients are not interested in coldfusion because of the cost, look for a web host who offer coldfusion then look at webhost who offer phpmysql, a web host who offer php/mysql its much cheaper than coldfusion, coldfusion is always expensive
but good things about coldfusion are you can use any database you want from MSaccess to MSSQL.
coldfusion is best for a hudge database web application, cause of the facts that you can use MSSQL database, and MSSQL database can hold up hudge amount of data, unlike MySQL, if you have 500MB wordth of data store on MySQL i dont think it will work well compare to MSSQL. but i havent try using php with other database, i have tried .txt and thats it. maybe someother member have use MSSQL on PHP.

The amount of data stored in a database is pretty irrelevent. It is HOW that data needs to be accessed and WHAT needs to be done to it that is important.
MySQL is very good for quite a few things, that being said if you are a large enterprise you will be better off with MSSql or Oracle. Other than that you need to decide what to use based on individual needs and your applications.
Any language can access basicly any database now-a-days. ASP can access anything from Access to mySQL to oracale, db2, mssql, etc. PHP can as well. Perl has modules for almost all of them.
Why? ODBC has made this all possible. Coldfusion does not offer you any more database flexibitly than the other.
Your statement that coldfusion is the best is just plain wrong. All coldfusion provides is a means of querying and displaying data. Take the fact that it is a huge resource hog and it is NOT the best for a large database application. There is no "best" language for any database application as once again it HIGHLY depends on what your data is and how you use it.
