| ATTN: Programmers - A Blog Site is Hiring!
Hmm, I visit my blog frequently, and stumbled upon this...
They are looking to expand and hire some programmers. Just thought some of you wizards may be interested. Quote:
Xanga is one of the largest websites in the world and we're looking for more good programmers to join our team. If you're interested in building features used daily by millions of people, that can scale to multiple Gigabits of traffic and multiple Petabytes of storage, then read on. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
* Experience with programming in a web environment. We use ASP.NET/C# over here, but we certianly don't require it; hey, we just want smart people.
* Relational Database Experience. Understand how to write sql queries, and how they'll perform.
* Knowledge of Javascript, HTML, and CSS.
* Experience with development process software like source control, profiler tools, NUnit/Junit, Nant/Ant, and log4net/log4j.
* Interest in technology and learning new things. For example, do you enjoy tinkering with Python? Or maybe you've taught yourself Ruby? Have you hacked an open source app? Experience with Lisp, PHP, Perl or C++ will also catch our eye.
* A self motivator with a passion and curiosity for programming. More than specific skills, we are looking for bright people who can grow with Xanga and move into a leadership role.
* Position is in New York City; and sorry, no telecommuting.
| I guess it's limited to NYC residents. |

| With my ego, I should have no problem getting hired.
Sucks though, I basically meet all the "requirements" but live nowhere near NYC. Maybe if I tell them I live there and just leave it at that? |

I think it may actually be an office job.
Meaning you have to commute. |

I liked google ads where you had to solve a fairly complex problem to find out where to call to apply for the job, weeded out a good majority of the applicants |

Seems like they were shooting themselves in the foot...
