If you build a Windows application (.exe) in Visual Studio.NET 2003 and try to run it on another Windows computer without the .NET framework installed will it run?

Just wondering how all this works...

No it will not run. That is like trying to run a java program without java installed

You have no runtime!

Well that kind of sucks but I guess since the framework is free then it is ok but I am not sure the base of people who will use my program will understand that they need the .NET framework installed on there computer from windowsupdate...

Is there a way that my setup program can install the .net framework runtime for them?

Yes you will need to package it with your program and install it as a pre-req.

This is most easily acccomplished by packaged the necessary runtime files. These are about 15MB.
