| Using access db with Visual Studio?
Lets say I am creating a vb.net program and want to use acess db. Will the computer I install this program on have to have access as well? Or will my program still be able to use the access file even though the pc doesn't have access installed...
Now if it cannot then do I need to include some access dll file in my installation? Or what do I need to install on the users computer that is legal to install to make the access db communicate with my application?
Thanks |

the end user does not need access
also it all depends on how you code the application |

you may want to look into MSDE, it's a free download from Microsoft (it should be on 1 of your Visual Studio CD's) it's a limited version of SQL server. (2Gb max database size) |

Thanks. That is good to know. If it depends on how I code it, then what do you mean? Is there something I should know about? |

I actually have SQL Server 2000, but I want to do it in Access so users who have Office can actually open it up and edit the data inside. |

I thought Visual Studio came with re-distribution rights for MSDE.. Just a thought, SQL is far nicer to program with. |
