since you are talking about mostly beginners i would think???
they could use frontpage express most likely (think it comes with windows or is available by download) and they can worry microsoft about how to do it!

I hope you're not asking for a Web-Based WYSIWYG editor, 'cause, even though I'd LOVE to have one, it would be horribly complicated, and most likely, have to be java-based. If your clients know HTML, I have a web-based source editor I could give you the code for.

If you just need a GUI for them to edit web pages, yes front page2k will be fine. If they want to edit the webpages through IE then yes code will be required.
However, you want them to be able to do this w/o putting in a username password?!?!!
Umm dont forget that also allows ANYBODY to get in w/o using username/password... personally I would suggest giving them a new username just for them and give them access to specific areas.
With frontpage, you just open it up and point it towards the website... and they can edit the webpage WYSIWYG and not too complicated.... the html it generates is crap though LOL IMO |

Well, what do you mean by change certain pages?
I don't think you mean actually design the website through the browser. I would think you mean that they would be able to change content.
Car club, I guess so they could update meeting times and places and stuff like that.
Yea, you would need some scripting. ASP, PHP, or CGI would probably be the 3 choices.

p.s. We change the techimo pages all the time just by posting. |

Give them FTP access. Create the documents with Word or something than can save them as HTML pages. Then let them upload the pages with an FTP program. The FTP client should be able to store the password with ****'s. If they are paying you to initiate this, then they should have the understanding that if they do more than instructed it will be there responsibility if the site becomes damaged. I reccomend backing up the info anyway.
I am unclear with what you are wanting to do but I hope this helps.

Ok maybe this will explain what im wanting to do. Each member has thier own member profile. The want the ability to change thier profile ie; upload new pics, change thier info.. I was just wondering if there is any way that they could do this without the PASSWORD TO THE FTP. It would be cool if they could each have thier own login to change thier personal page on the website..Maybe something along the line of a CGI script. I know thier server cant handle asp so i could only go with CGI. Maybe someone knows a good script. . I hope I am clear this time. If not thanks for all your help..

Check out this free CGI package: http://www.aitinternet.com/business/scripts.html
Once configured, the users can build their own pages using FP, Netscape Composer, Dreamweaver, Notepad, whatever; then simply upload the HTML and graphics files to their accounts. This is kind of like setting up a simplistic Geocities type of site for the users, but you as the admin do not have to know much about HTML or coding to get this system up and running.
For the novice users, just recommend they build their pages in FP Express or Netscape Composer. Each are free plus have the needed templates for basic pages for bio's, photos. etc.
Good Luck,
Robert Richmond
