| Wanting to Open BIG Online Store!
Heres the deal, I am wanting to open a big online store and all, but don't know where to start. I guess the first thing I will need is a script the site will run on. Anyone know where I can get hold of a professional script, like the one NewEgg, Xoxide, TigerDirect, and Think Geek use? What other licensing would I need? Any help would be appreciated. |

Welcome to TechIMO!!
Hope you have lots of money and/or investors.
First thing you will need to do is to establish a business.
I recommend a corporation so you don't get your butt sued to kingdom come.
As far as software I have no idea what you need. Bill in SD, CA

Those kinds of sites write their own software I'm sure. I believe most of them manage their own checkouts as well.
I'm not going to critique your business plan, but theres already too many online computer stores if you ask me....
Anyhow, just for a starting place, you might want to take a look at OSCommerce. http://www.oscommerce.com/ |

Well, this will be a crazy cheap store like if something is $300, I sell for 275. I have things like that already worked out. Well, I have OSCommerce, but I want my own actual script. Anyone know a great place to find programmers like that?
And thanks all for the welcome. I'll probably be spending a couple of hours each day on these forums, seems pretty cool here. |

Hmm, this is almost like me asking where to get parts for my rocketship on the nasa forum. lol jk. Just sounds like you are a little over your head from the questions you are asking. I would set something up with OSCommerce first till you get enough money to have someone manage your site with custom software. |
