Can anybody explain to me why it is that many web sites have a pagerank only on their home page? Should it be a web desingers goal to get a pagerank for all pages on a site? or should a web designer be disappointed about this being the case on their web site.
is the home page of a site the only page that really needs a high page rank? because that is where you usually want visitors to go from a search engine any way?
And why is it that sites like hotmail have no page rank? I also noticed that there is no page rank information available for techimo. |

Where are you getting your page rank info from? Rank according to who? Google? Yahoo? Rank for what target words? And why do yo assume there's no info available for TechIMO? |

My info is from observations and from google.com.
I was unaware that Yahoo also had a PageRank feature trademarked.
I am sorry. I assumed everybody was on the same page when PageRank was mentioned, refering to google's PageRank (0-10) feature that is can be viewed on the google toolbar, and is a number that google assigns to pages that they consider important. It is google's ranking system.
It has nothing to do with target words.
I do not assume anything about TechIMO, I look at the Google PageRank for TechIMO and see that google does not assign a page rank to almost any area of the site. Though some forum posts have been deemed worthy.
I hope this clarifies exactly what my question is.

Reason: wrong bold tag :)

Sorry. Thought you were talking a page rank. I didn't think about PageRank which is obviously a specific Google system. |

Honestly I don't see why all of a sites pages need a high pagerank. The only impotant one (for pagerank) imo is the index page Quote: |

| Yes, unless you have multiple sites on a single domain(example:http://www.example.com/site1 www.example.com/site2, etc) |

I also noticed that there is no page rank information available for techimo.
| Then something is wrong with your client-side PageRank application. The TechIMO front page has a PR of 6. The main forum index has a PR of 5. Each forum subcategory index page has a PR of 4. Most indexed threads have a PR of 3. Note the mentioned PR values can easily jump by 1-2 points at any given time, even in just a matter of seconds. TechIMO currently has over 202,000 indexed pages at Google.

yea, i loooked at more pages and saw. i remember not seeing a PageRank very often, because i had not looked at many threads, and the ones i had must not have been indexed. even this page, to reply to a thread, isnt indexed, which is prolly good. but that's what i was thinking, that some threads must have good rank. and i had never been to the home page of techimo before you mentioned that. pretty cool!
i retract my former statement... |
