Generic Intranet Site

Good Afternoon,
I am working on a school project, we have networked 5 Windows 2000 severs. One of which needs to have an intranet page accessable by all other clients by typing "library" (or anything) in the address line of IE.

Question is: Where do I start?

I'm pretty decent with HTML (good enough to create a generic site), but my real question is, in what file do I place the HTML file so that others may access the page? (I think it's in the Index file, but it's been a long time).

Thanks

first you need to build the webpage and name in whatever you want. for simplicity i'd recommend index.html. Then i'd install apache www.apache.org and host it through that. Set up the windows workgroup (doesn't have to be a domain!)

Okay, I've got the server up and running and I have a nice little HTML document that appears when the IP address is typed.

Now, I need help in another department: How can I make it so that I only need to type "library" in the address bar to pull up the site?

I've been looking in the conf files and at the very bottom it goes into virtual hosts which seems to be what I'm looking for; but i have no idea where to put what!

Please help

If all of the computers are all on the same work-group then all you have to do is change the full computer name of the server to library. To change this right-click on My Computer and select Properties. Click on the tab that says Computer Name. Then click change and enter your new computer name(library)

are you using a domain? If you change the computer name like Andy has suggested you could access it by library.yourdomain.net or just library.
